We're delighted to announce that we now have a new federated search engine, MultiSearch, available on the Library homepage and on the Library section of MyCIT.
MultiSearch (generic name: Summon, a ProQuest product) is a library search engine that allows easy searching of multiple library resources simultaneously including:
- The library catalogue
- Several online databases
- Our e-Book Collections
MultiSearch provides CIT staff and students with an easy search option to get high-quality academic material quickly. It facilitates immediate access to almost all of our large collection of online library resources (over 28 million full text items).
Access is direct from our homepage http://library.cit.ie/ so no need to go to other pages first.
MultiSearch also detects mobile device searches and automatically loads a smart phone and tablet-friendly mobile interface to search, read and utilise results easily (http://cit.summon.serialssolutions.com/ ).
MultiSearch interrogates almost all our online databases at once so no need to go from database to database. Its Google-like interface makes it easy to use for students. The Advanced Search option provides for more detailed searches and its refining features allows you to quickly and accurately narrow down large results.
In MultiSearch you can quickly identify what journal titles we have and it is also possible to include good quality external sources.
Off campus access is simple, using your staff/student email username and password.
It is hoped that MultiSearch will help to facilitate greater usage of high quality academic resources by students and prevent any potential over-reliance on less worthwhile material.
